Bold Park Aquatic Centre Redevelopment
Bold Park Aquatic Centre, originally constructed in 1975, is owned and operated by the Town of Cambridge. Due to its age and wear and tear, the main pool at the centre reached the point where it required significant refurbishment or replacement.
The redevelopment of Bold Park Aquatic Centre included replacing the existing 8 lane 50m pool with a new 10 lane 50m pool. As well as replacing the main pool, a new covered leisure / learn to swim pool, a new main building to house the crèche, a cafe/kiosk, change rooms, swim shop, pool administration facilities and extensions to the existing carpark facilities were undertaken.
In summary the new facility comprises:
- A 10 lane, 50m outdoor heated main pool;
- A semi-enclosed learn to swim/leisure pool;
- New main building;
- Over 250 car parking bays;
- BBQ and new playground facilities;
- New fencing to the perimeter;
- Enhancement of the Whadjuk walking trail; and
- Improved landscaping.
We delivered a modern, vibrant aquatic centre that will serve the local community for years to come.
Bold Park Aquatic Centre was awarded a Commendation in the Public Architecture Category at the Australian Institute of Architects’ 2016 WA Architecture Awards.
