Mobilisation to Secret Harbour Shopping Centre was executed expediently following Charter Hall Retail REIT awarding Doric Contractors the contract to deliver the major redevelopment of the centre.
The redevelopment will see Doric undertake construction works to a value of $34m, and will deliver a major refurbishment of the existing centre, including the expansion of the existing Woolworths supermarket, plus the introduction of two new major retailers, Coles and Aldi, and a range of specialty retailers enhancing the shopping experience for customers.
“We are delighted to be selected to deliver the redevelopment of the Secret Harbour Shopping Centre on behalf of Charter Hall Retail REIT,” said Doric CEO, Mr Vince Mulholland.
“Doric has a long association with Secret Harbour, building the community’s first retail centre in 1995, then Stage 1 of the Secret Harbour Shopping Centre in 2005. It is very satisfying to be returning to continue the expansion of the centre for this rapidly growing community.”
The works will also provide a boost to the local community, with approximately 4,136 square metres of additional retail and commercial space to be created, providing more than 250 jobs upon completion.
Doric is extremely well credentialed to deliver this project given that retail development and shopping centres have played a significant role in the growth of the company over the past 27 years, commencing with the Eric Street Shopping Centre, which was constructed in 1989.
Doric’s expertise and reputation in this sector of the market is exceptional, and Secret Harbour Shopping Centre is the third retail development awarded to Doric in recent months; and will be the 31st retail development delivered by Doric in the past 25 years.
